Village forms gun club amid drought at Langothlin

About 25 residents met in Union Church to form a Langothlin gun club with Mr Piper as chair and J Piper as president. A ten member committee and rules were adopted. Fortnightly shoots begin next Saturday. The district suffers drought with little rain affecting crops and grass stock.

Elderbury Drive Yields 92 Hares In Poor Weather Shoot

A Saturday hare drive in Elderbury brought 92 scalps from about 29 shooters due to poor Ricamite weather. Top scorer was J Heaghey with 11, followed by T Collins with 8. Farmers plan more ground under cultivation as potato crops approach and crutching trials by Mesare Williams Bros. yield satisfactory results despite ongoing drought.

Local district cricket outlook for the coming season

Balderleigh club appears strongest with a lineup including Joe Chisholm Herb Chisholm Harry Chisholm Percy Chisholm and Donald Jackson. Gayra loses Wilberforce Joe Youman and Jim Muldoon but Selden fields the best bat on the tableland. North Guyra seems weaker but capable of a win or two. Guyra faces Ollera tomorrow at Ollera’s wicket. Jim McKay scores 204 for Burwood against Glebe. Country week is set for November 3 and 4. New England meets Gordon in first grade for the debut of a new club with old North Sydney players. The writer hopes Joe Chisholm joins the New England squad.
