Persistent wet weather postpones Sundays pennant match between Inverell and Long Ends. The fixture will be rescheduled at the end of the current arrangements. Guyra travels to Glen Innes to meet Inverell selection at 1.30 p.m. Players must arrange transport and notify secretary J Richardson if unavailable.
A recent visitor to Boolaroo is P C 49 Bill Culla of Guyra. The former star of the All Blacks Union team that played at Petes Point years ago joins the Guyra Bowling Club. He is Bert Culla’s brother from Wickham Club.
Rain halted cricket and bowls events at the weekend. Saturday matches will be completed after the first round. Next Saturday fixtures include Falconer vs Ollera, Black vs Mountain, Glencoe, Northbrook vs Llangothin. games to be played in the round of the first named team.
Demonstrations by Miss Ena Parsons at the New State Store in Guyra showcased Riverstone Meat Co products. Samples including meat mixtures and desserts like puddings were offered for tasting, with attendees invited to share opinions on the food.
The Guyra Club postpones a 4 ball best ball 18 hole event to Sunday November 12 due to waterlogged grounds at Armidale Golf Course. Prizes include trophies donated by R Wooller and H Fletcher for first and second pairs, with third pair trophies from the club. An exhibition by Bobby Locke is set for Tamworth on October 21. The club also plans a social to aid the Police Hospital Ball in the near future.
