Large attendance marked the Inverell October horse sale by Murray and Eather with many buyers from Queensland. Top prices listed for draughts, weldings, mares and geldings across several ages, plus racehorse sales for Kooringsl Boy and Hootaway. A total of 115 head were sold.
McKie owns a Ford for the minister, Cregan buys a six cylinder Buick in Sydney for Easter work, and a Tingha Cottage Hospital nurse job is awarded. Crowded items include garden pilfering complaints, farm losses from suspected poisoning, a farewell to Sergeant Pearson, flood damage at Ollera Creek, a Him Hiscox wedding at John’s Creek with a large breakfast and toasts to the couple.
Administrative expenses from the general fund to other funds include 70 for street lighting offset by 50 from the street lighting local fund to the general fund and 10 from the brigade local fund to general fund. Additional charges total 4 from the sanitary fund to administrative expenses. The interfund charges were set by council on the recommendation of Mr. J Richardson.
The treasurer A A Mackenzie reports the current season is in credit, with £41 in certificates for the general fund and a lot held in Wilt wings. A ballot for a certificate was won by W Parnell and donated to the Institute. The wood shed roof issue is discussed and cloth renewal for billiard tables deferred if prices remain unfavourable. A new tenant will take over the cottage next day.
