Methodist services conducted by Rev. E H Wiswa on Sunday at 11 oclock morning at Rockley and at Langeblin at 7 30 pm. Services include praise and exhortation with fellowship to follow.
Local notice notes the recovery of Rev A N Metelefy from illness and announces a celebration on Toyeday at Sir Wolnagha's thr ray. Details list Mr and Mrs J JoUhallven as hosts and mention attendees from Elsinore and nearby towns.
A backwater cottage near Guyra burned early Sunday killing Dear Doreen Baldwin five and Mary three. Father Herbert Baldwin and Desere Cook 66 survived. three other adults and two girls were injured or endangered. Fire likely started by a pipe setting walls ablaze. bodies recovered, inquest opened.
The CWA monthly meeting last Saturday, chaired by Matron Arustnpe, reported a nett profit of £36 from the hall. The branch plans to buy land on the southeast side of Mr A A Brown’s, and a hearty thanks was given to all who helped, with a contribution to the King’s Jubilee Fund.
Council notes gangs led by Dunshea Youman Grills Symes and others repairing roads at Glen Lunes and Gayra areas. Inspectors report on sanitary conditions, water supply, and notifiable diseases while plans for Falconer Creek bridge and Ben Lomond-Wandsworth crossings are presented for funding and upgrades.
The Armidale court dealt with charges including unregistered vehicles, driving without a licence, and failing to hold a light. Defendants received fines, hard labor, or payments by instalment. several also faced charges of careless fire use and liquor violations. Additional items covered dog ownership and small debts, with council and infrastructure notes on crossings and inspections.
A committee for the R S and S I Jubilee Ball asks for donations and contributions of any kind. Gifts will be displayed at premises provided by Mr John Cor Hradheyst. Donors should notify Miss Connie Mitchell, hon secretary, of the caretaker Memeorial Institute to arrange acceptance.
Applications invited for the position of secretary of the association with a salary of £100 per year. Deadline for applications is Saturday 29th June. Applicants must be ready to assume duties from the stated date.
The Catholic ball committee schedules the annual Catholic ball for Wednesday at the Arcadia Theatre with a juvenile ball on the following night. A farewell social is planned at Memorial Hall to honor Mr. R H Jones who moves to Glen Innes, with ladies invited to provide supper. The Arcadia presents The Thin Man with Powell Loy, plus Cleaning Up and Coming Out Party. Wednesday and Saturday shows proceed at standard prices.
