The new M U L O F Hall was officially opened by Past Grand Master G A Jones and dedicated by PGM Hiro Morgan Stephens. A large crowd attended including visiting Lodges. A social followed and proceeds will aid the Armidale and District Ambulance.
H A Chisholm & Co report a cordial sale on behalf of Mr A Whan Elderbury. Horses sold yesterday afternoon with saddle horses reaching up to 61S and draught horses up to 11Se, illustrating healthy demand.
Attention is drawn to the enhancements in this issue by Kennedy and Sone builders whose work has proven their ability in the district. The Perpetual Hide Skin and Tallow Co of Sydney declares it will pay top prices for hides skins and tallow, signaling strong demand.
Church memoranda note Sunday May 18 schedules for Church of England and Presbyterian venues with minister travel and licence details. May 25 lists additional services at Woodaworth, Ollera, Goya, Ker, and Norman McKie along with HLA and BLA designations. Also Methodist listings show Gap View Brookley and Joseph Kidd involvement.
Mrs. Comber a respected district resident died after about seven months illness. Born in Armidale in 1856, she was the daughter of the late Robert Mulligan. Funeral Monday at the Catholic Cemetery with Father Walsh officiating. pallbearers included brothers J. T. Mulligan and J. H. Mulligan and nephews Jack Edwin Alan Dudley Mulligan.
In 1220 trial plantings compared Dakota Red Table Carmen Guyra Blue and Satisfaction varieties. Seed from J Jingle & Co., Guyra. Yields ranged 36 lbs acre from Dakota Red to 14 lbs acre from Satisfaction. All crops harvested April 24, 1040. proceeds went to the School Picnic Fund.

In the Supreme Court of New South Wales Probate of the last will of Margaret Comber late of Guyra is sought to be granted to John Terence Mulligan the Younger of Guyra the sole executor named. Creditors are required to forward particulars within fourteen days to Mackenzie and Biddulph Proctors for the executor at Guyra with notices served at their office Guyra and via Biddulph and Salenger at 174 Phillip Street Sydney.
In a tight contest at Guyra Show Ground Guyra edged Ben Lomond 11 to 10 with a late burst. Pettit opened scoring for Guyra, Jock Price and C Coleman of Ben Lomond traded scores, and McKay sealed the win with a late crosskick and goal just as time expired. Next week Guyra meets Glen Innes for the Meteo Cup.
Miss Amy Johnson landed at Insein near Rangoon after a foggy journey from Calcutta to Akyah. She descended to 200 feet due to poor visibility and crashed near a toll road, damaging the plane but escaping harm. Her engine is fine and she plans to fly again tomorrow, two days ahead of Minkter's record. Parents delighted as she reports no injuries and a solo flight milestone.
A UK government report after five years of testing from 1922 to 1927 finds the Imperial standard yard about two ten thousandths of an inch shorter than in 1862 and the standard pound about one three ten thousandth of its weight. It warns both may be slowly losing accuracy and recommends new higher precision standards.
The report cites Cullivation 17 and related varieties with yields around 24 to 70, while Mr Huarriwon notes disappointing crops area wide and disease checks. It praises careful variety selection and rising emphasis on cultural practices and disease control. In Tenterfield seven plates entered a local show with silver cups, awarding placements to James Tift Cooredulla Station, G B Koch and Sons Melnbrook, and Cowin Brow.
The London wool market opened with brisk demand across Continental and Yorkshires. Merino and fine wools drew strong interest. prices rose about ten percent with several lines reaching ten percent gains.
