A. Horner Fletcher MLL Optometrist and Optician advertises contact details for eye care in Armidale and nearby areas. Mr Major is currently visiting Guyra and district for about a week.
A garbled account describes the opening of the Federal Parliament and the Duke of York's speech at the ceremony. It notes the new capital, the welfare and advancement of nations, and reflections on Australia’s evolution since federation, with references to loyalty and national progress.
The May event covering the Federal Capital ceremonies was broadcast by Messrs Hargest and Gilson on Monday. Attendance was fair and speeches by Mc Bruce and the Duke of York were clearly transmitted. Religious portions were included but discord autavises and instrument noise marred daytime results. night transmission improved. Reports from Gilon Lines noted similar issues, though Armidale reception was more satisfactory.
The wedding of Lowe Blatch and Edwin James Andre took place on 25 April at Stanmore. The bride wore a cream dress with georgette lace overskirt and carried a bouquet of white dahlias and pale pink roses. Bridesmaid Miss Alice Hintch wore shamp georgette. best man was Mr A Hatch. The couple left by car for Katoomba en route to Jenolan Caves and will reside in Kogarah Sydney.
At the Hoyal Hotel last night the Jackson Cup was awarded to Glenmore Cricket Club. Representatives from Black Mountain Glenore Ollera and Guyra clubs attended. Glenore president J F Parsons accepted the cup and thanked the clubs for a good season.
Final notice stating the business has been disposed. The sender requests settlement of all accounts and warns that any outstanding balances after Saturday will be placed in the hands of a solicitor for recovery without further delay.
