Coronation Services Planned at Bonlay Parish

The Presbyterian Church at Bonlay hosts services Sunday May 11 at 11 am and 7 30 pm in Tenterden and Guyro to mark the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth with a note that there is no service on Wednesday May 12 Rev E N McKie officiates Salvation Army programs run through the week with prayer meetings Bible class and youth meetings. Guyra Golf Club 27 Hole Stroke Winners Named

Mine Joan McLean won Mrs Phelan's trophy for A grade at Guyra with 125 strokes. B grade winner Mrs Cameron took the trophy donated by Mrs Cameron. Dig gers' Hall Angwe Night draws record crowd at Arcadia

A large turnout at Angwe Night at Arcadia Theatre raised 116 pounds door donations plus 810 pounds from Hen Lonend residents. Net profit benefits the Diggers' Fund. Two orchestras provided music until 4 am and a staged Anzac trench scene impressed the audience.

J H Williams Die in Horse Accident at Boorolong

John Henry Williams aged 72, longtime pastoralist and manager for the Marsh Estate, died from injuries after his horse fell on him at Boorolong. He was born at Boorolong and was respected as a stock judge and estate manager. Survived by Mrs Williams and three children Harold Glengarry Arthur Boorolong and Miss Williams. Funeral held Friday from St Marys Cathedral to Armidale Cemetery with Father Tully officiating.

Obituary of Mrs James Pryor of Tubbamurra

The death of Mrs James Pryor of Tubbamurra occurred at Armidale Hospital Sunday last. Her funeral was brought to Guyra for interment. She leaves a widower and a six year old child and the notice expresses sympathy for them. Rev Father Wealy conducted the service at the church and grave. Piddingtons Armidale had charge of arrangements.

Gwydir By-Election Amid Vandalism and Rhetoric

The Gwydir by election sees vandalism with three Country Party car tyres slashed and another car’s petrol tank filled with water. Vacation School closes and Coronation holiday announced

Vacation-School will close on Tuesday May 11 and reopen on Tuesday May 16. A Coronation special holiday is granted Thursday May 14. Train passes for travel during vacation are not as cheap as excursion passes, but passes are available. A PY. U-A special meeting tonight with Dr. J. D. Russell and Mr. G. E. Madgwick will feature Balopticin demonstration. Four hundred children from nine schools attended the Show Ground event with fifty four events and up to six heats.
