Local Shire Meeting Advances Street Lighting Plan
At Tattersall's Hotel on Monday night the Shire Council discussed lighting main streets and appointed a Babe committee of Moore Stevenson Simpson Judge Sole to draft a lighting scheme. Resignation of A V Cassidy accepted and W R Harper elected to fill the vacancy. The Inverell to Guyra railway proposal received support and a route improvement was suggested by Mr. Moore. The meeting closed after formal business.

Local readers are reminded that optician Mr 8 A Basser will visit Goyra on Tuesday and may be consulted at Starr and Mandys Royal Hotel. Races at Tubbamurra Saturday had light attendance but good weather and a well contested track. The promoter Mr R Campbell is praised for future efforts. A visitor reports splendor around Tubbamurra despite a dry season and generally good stock condition. Last month was very dry with 13 points recorded and rain on the last day. Heller's Company performed Monday night to fair attendance featuring legal drama clairvoyance ventriloquism and cabinet work. Queensland election results: Liberals 44 Labourites 20 Independents 2.
