How Ward's Mistake Was Named
Mr H J Clark of Raeburn Guyra shares a local version of Ward's Mistake naming. William Nowland Senior arrived at Singleton around 1439 and claimed land later known as Ward's Mistake, an area of 40 000 acres. The tale recounts land management, disputes, and the mysterious Ward who vanished, with Nowland naming the place Ward's Mistake after Ward left in search of lease, and a note that no court fight occurred and the name did not come from "Owned."
