The Guyra Tennis Club announced a thriving year at its annual meeting. President Mrs. B Smith led a large turnout as members approved a cash flow of £542 12s 6d in receipts and £482 7s 1d in expenses.
The club explains restricting players to four events to prevent delays. Play is optional on Good Friday after lunch with notice required. Slazenger exhibits films March 19 in Odd Tellows Hall. Trophies return at monthly events and fees will be set. Plans include seating and topdressing four courts. Keith Parsons calls for a 11 member committee to govern the club.
In New South Wales Country League gathering at Tamworth it was agreed Gunnedah should play with the League if Tamworth accepts them. Armidale League may enter Tamworth competition. Bandiana Victoria to compete in Group 13 for the first time. Premier officers reappointed including C S Nicholson as chairman and S J Hayes as patron. State selectors H Bailey and H Nolan. Country groups spent 5150 on school football. Rugby League spent 500. 1951 representative team managers H Fitzgerald and E O Sullivan. coaching at Wollongong.
A cricket match between Llangothlin and Falconer ended in a draw. Falconer batsman Liath lin faced attack with 99 runs in 45 minutes, while Llangothlin posted 118 in total. Notable scores include Belson and Stanton for Llangothlin and Campbell and Beesley for Falconer.
Inverell District Rugby League Committee will enter an A grade and reserve grade team in Group 12 and seek an A grade team in the Glen Innes competition. Attendees reported a Warialda meeting deciding a competition with Narrahri Moree Barraba Bingara and Warialda joining. Each club may appoint two delegates. prize includes five percent of match gate for the winner plus a trophy. Competition begins April 29.
A public meeting at Baxter's Cafe on Thursday March 22 plans to form an Inverell Rugby Union club. NSW Rugby Union officials J McGregor and Blunt will attend from Sydney, with a New England representative sought. The revival follows early year talks and Inverell's postwar standing as a union stronghold. The meeting starts at 8 pm to discuss problems and rally local support.
The monthly prize shoot at Tenterden range 400 yards faced a strong south easterly wind. Scores featured N Parker 48 50 E Cook 17 30 B Youmans 36 14 50 G Mariner 39 12 50 S Jackson 37 16 50 C Cook 44 T 48 J Mariner 9 46. later practice saw C Cook post 48 with seven bulls.
The Ben Lomond Club held a 600 yard mound shoot last Saturday with a strong variable wind and changing light. L Johnson led with 32 points as a new member, while J Coward and D Streeter posted 35 and 35 respectively in the scores. The club names J M Butler E Cunningham C Butler H Pearson L Johnson A Pearson A Maxwell D Streeter and Hugh Pearson to represent in a Wollomombi team shoot next Saturday in March.
