New Refurbishment Ordinance Affects Guyra Premises

Council correspondence notes a new ordinance regulating refreshment rooms in Guyra Shire. Premises must be licensed by the Local Council after a three month period and licences may be refused for past food safety offences. An inspector will audit rooms to ensure compliance. licence fee is 2 shillings 6 pence.

National Emergency Services scheme discussed by council

A council meeting reviewed a letter from Lt. Col. Hruxner proposing a National Emergency Services scheme for civil defense against attacks and disasters. Mr. Mose was nominated Chief Warden with deputies for Tingha, Ben Lomond, and Liongatha. other local officials and volunteers were named to assist in preparations and road and safety issues were discussed.

Mad Hatters Ball Set for Arcadia Theatre Night

Preparations by the euthaniietic committee led by Mr Croker are under way for the Mad Hatters Ball at Arcadia Theatre tomorrow. A record crowd from Glen Innes Inverell Tingha Armidale and surrounding districts is expected. Dancing starts at 4 10 pm with Leggo's orchestra and Professor OCM Taki's Russian Jazz Orchestra. Judging of Mad Hatters at 9 45 pm and prize presentations follow. Professor Ziffeki and his orchestra perform around 10 15 pm with copper serving at 10 45 pm and hot tea after. Novel novelties stage decorations and a new ticket back design add to the night’s appeal.
