At a midwinter break up a large crowd gathered to farewell Mrs G J Mitchell after eleven years on the staff of Guyra Public School. Speeches praised her 27 years of royal service and dedication handling older girls and younger pupils alike. The event included gifts, music, and a final chorus of For She's a Jolly Good Fellow as teachers and parents bid her well in retirement.
Mrs Pauline Jones a well known resident of the district died Thursday afternoon aged nearly 73 after a lengthy illness. Her funeral at Armidale followed services at her residence in Guyra with Rev E W H Shaw and Rev N McKie officiating. Survived by a stepmother, siblings, and several relatives, she lived a long life from Germany to New South Wales, working as domestic help before marrying and eventually settling in Aberfoyle and Guyra. Her memory was described as retentive with keen observation.
The Evans family expresses gratitude to relatives and friends for kindness and loving care shown to Pauline Joven during her illness and passing.

On Armidale ground Guyra Convent School boys defeated St Marys 47 nil. Captain John McDonnell starred with seven tries, backed by O Connor and Giles as Guyra extends to 72 points with no against. In a later draw with South Armidale 16 all, Guyra leads 7-0 at halftime and aims to win the Ambulance Cup by beating North Armidale.
Notice warns prosecution for noncompliance with motor vehicle parking regulations in Bradley Street on Saturdays. Cars must park at the kerb for no longer than 30 minutes, with allowed parking at the intersecting area near Bradley Street. Shire Clerk B Phelan signs the notice dated June 28, 1928.
