Liquor question urged referendum on hotel trading hours

The State A L P conference endorsed the executive report urging a referendum on hotel trading hours. It recommended boosting club licences and giving special consideration to bona fide workers clubs when licences are granted. Premier Cahill said the government plans a trade commission report.

Guyra Golf Club Weekend Results and Social News

The Guyra Golf Club reports smaller fields due to Inverell tournament. Don Lockyer won the stableford with 36 points, Geoff Dean 35, and Harold Steele won a close B grade countback. A grade may have been Merv Legge with 30. Keith Dowdell and Ted Rudd won the four ball better ball event 6 up by 2 over Burgess and Prisk. A social is planned for Saturday and the next committee meeting is Monday June 21. Next weekend events include Flag on Saturday and stroke on Sunday for Norman Jackson's trophy. A quartet of ladies survived a motor accident en route to Inverell. Mrs. Sole, Mrs. Mayled, Mrs. Lockyer, and Mrs. Birmingham all suffered injuries, with Jean Birmingham notably sustaining a broken left collarbone.

Rabbits On Railway Land At Black Mountain Exmouth

Mr 7 Th Cahill M L A will draw the Transport minister's attention to a rabbit problem on Railway Department land between Black Mountain and Exmouth. He told Armidale officials yesterday he understands the issue and will press for action in response to a resident complaint.

Safety ramps planned for Devil's Pinch site

The Department of Main Reads is considering safety ramps on Devil's Pinch. Advice to this effect has been received by the secretary of Armidale branch of the Real Safety Council. A reverse curve warning has been erected on the New England Highway at Moore Park Hill and a warning sign will follow at Devil's Pinch once manufactured.
