The battle of the Aisne and Marne rages with great violence as German forces push southwest toward Paris from Boisone vicinity. French hold line in most sectors while near Chateau Thierry they gain ground. Soissons in smoke as Australians engage between Traielle and Lamotte. Submarine activity off the American coast is uncertain with reports of five U boats and ships lost. Three American schooners sent to sea and a 300 passenger steamer shelled.
Church of England services at Goyra and Paddledock with morning and evening times. Rav. A. W. Coates conducts 10 am children service, 11 am and 7.30 pm. Presbyterian Wandeworth Tenterden and Goyra schedule with 1 am, 2.30 pm, and 7.30 pm sessions by Rav. E. N. McKie B.A.
Private E Smythe, farewelled by Guyra Brose Band and townsfolk, left on Thursday night for Liverpool Camp after a farewell social at Oddfellows Hall where Miss Tiersey played piano and Miss Hasley assisted.
