Tree Planting Marks Central School Boundary at Guyra
Mr. J. Mason praised the show of trees in Guyra and led a project to plant more than 20 pines behind the Central School playground funded by the Parents and Citizens Association. Two old trees were removed, with voluntary help from Mr. Clarrie Davis and two men, while Ron Smith and his boys did ground ploughing and hole digging and Rev. E N McKie offered advice. Trees cost 7 pounds 14 shillings for the batch, quoted at 50 shillings per dozen.

Weather Woes and Planting Efforts in Guyra
Last week Guyra faced frozen pipes as temperatures dropped to 19 and 20 degrees. Rainfall reached 38 points by yesterday morning while school trees were planted with a five to a tree team. A drainage issue at the school rear boundary prompted a Shire Council notice and a suggestion to lay a storm pipe. Donations were noted from Mr. C Davis and workers, with further contributions from Mr. J Jones and Mr. Beesley.
