Uralla defeats Easts 11 to 0, with Fuller and Cooper scoring for Uralla in a field of mud and stoppages. Guyra beats Tingha 26 to 5, with Nipperess and Oehlers shining in a dominant open play display amid rough conditions.
Guyra defeated Tingha 36 to 5 to claim the Duke of Clarence Cup after travelling to Tingha last Sunday. Tingha is praised as a decent side but not at former standard. The match opened with Guyra pressuring Tingha and a late first-half score by Oehlers followed a dropped ball near the line.
Guyra defeated Tingha 36 to 5 with Oehlers scoring a hatful and Lyes contributing, while Tingha risked a few late moves. E Cox refereed capably as Guyra seconds beat Tingha seconds 3–0 in a fast, open match with R Hennessy injuring a collarbone.
Norths beat Wests 3 2 in the B grade final to claim the title while Wests take minor premiership. K McCrohon kicked for Wests and J Bower scored a notable try for Easts, with both first-half scores on firm ground at Wests 25.
The Northern Division representatives P Love Armidale T Harrigan Gunnedah and J Willcox Tamworth last Friday authorised Tamworth District League to stage a match between the originally selected team to play the Englishmen and a divisional side to aid flood victims. The game will be at Tamworth on Sunday with the label Northern Division v The Rest and players must participate once finalised unless a strong reason is given.
Guyra Hockey Club toured over the weekend to Glen Innes Ten terfield and Deepwater. They won 7 3 at Glen Innes but lost both Tenterfield games 3 0 and 3 1. B Cameron scored Guyra s only goal. The return at Deepwater ended 4 1 with Guyra tiring after a sequence of matches.
The Tamworth District League aims to raise funds through a charity match with international referees being sought. N Bassan notes efforts to secure Bishop McMahon or another top official. Northern Division selects players including Simro, Blair, Watson, Reardon, Partridge, Williams, Kee, and Kelaher among others.
