Prominent Glen Innes Merchant and Ex Mayor Dies
McGovern's Mr J Uta a prominent businessman and ex Mayor of Glen Innes died suddenly at his Dram Ne residence aged 67. A Stuttgart native who arrived in 1860 he began as a storekeeper at Dundee later moving to Glen Innes where he built a large trading business and founded Sunlight Flour Mills. His sons P and A Ute have managed the firm since 1902.
