The Guyra Golf Club held the eclectic competition for Mrs Quinlan's trophy and the LGU medal on the Town course with Mrs Briggs taking the trophy at 66 net. Cameron won the LGU medal on the Country course with 211 and Molly Youman was runner up with 218. The LGU medal for the Town course went to Mrs Briggs with 210 and Mitchell was runner up at 214.
A harvest of social items from Armidale and Guyra records farewells and appointments. Mr TH Hanna returns from Sydney by motorcar to Erie. Mrs Loxwell sells her hairdressing business to Mr Mick McMillan and departs Guyra. The Mackenzies with Mrs Snape visit Southport Q. Mr Frank Pearson is named to the Armidale Land Board, replacing W Williams. The death of W Hunter Warner of Newholme Armidale is reported with cremation in Sydney. Farewell events include a clock presentation for E Handebo and J Sturkett transfer to Murulla with tributes from G U L O F members and local officials.
Justice Street in the Central Criminal Court released William Newlands 26 a grazier on bond after a manslaughter verdict for the May 1 shooting of his brother in law William Duncombe. The judge described provocation and urged reform while suspending two years jail on £200 bond and good conduct.
Kevin Rodgers a three year old from Boort View underwent an operation in Philadelphia for a bowel obstruction and was discharged in good health. Local officials report the child shows improvement and is home with his family.
