The Eighteenth Annual Exhibition of the Guyra Pastoral Agricultural and Horticultural Society opened on Tuesday and ran through Thursday in hot dry weather. Exhibits showed fine fruit and dairy products amid a drought, with Mr D A Jackson’s Highfield dessert apple notably admired and Mr J W Jay’s potato display praised for variety. The committee and volunteers were praised for their unselfish work and steady improvements to grounds and pavilion. The show drew strong local support despite drought challenges and aims to grow next year with anticipated more entries in beekeeping and needlework.
The Guyra show featured two saddles on display with Me WoA Roberts as exhibitor and praised pieces like stookolan saddle. On Saturday, Mrs. E Pheton injured in a cricket match incident prompted a sympathy motion at the New England Cricket Association meeting. Nanango Station owner Mrs Willis died last week at an advanced age. she was born in 1849 at Bun, MC. She leaves a son and ten daughters, with several surviving relatives across Gowrie, Quirindi, and Queensland.
