An Armidale resident, Frank Baker, died from heart trouble early Tuesday at Armidale Hospital. He was born in Armidale, son of Mrs. Mary Baker and the late Edward Baker. He worked with a surveyor and later at Coyne, returning to Armidale for a period before moving again. Survived by three brothers and a sister, his remains were interred in the Church of England cemetery at Armidale with Rev. Carey Hulley officiating.
The death occurred in Armidale Hospital on Tuesday of Mr Laban Rixon, a well known Guyra resident. He was 9 years old, a returned emigrant and since home-coming has been an invalid. Survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Fred Rixon and siblings Ernie, Claude, Clarence, Mrs R Yo Jenks, Moush Muttigiodi and others. The remains were taken to St Columba's Presbyterian Church for an impressive service conducted by Rev E McRie. Returned soldiers carried the coffin and a guard of honour stood at the church. At the grave Rev McRie read the service and the procession proceeded to the Guyra cemetery with returned soldiers. pallbearers included Mersers, I( TD), Vorkins, Wo Cahill, G F Sah an, H Hill, W Roberts and S Rixon. Australian Flag was flown at half mast during funeral arrangements by Memorial Avenue yesterday.

George Sorlie and his company return to the Canvas Theatre next to the Owl Lore for a week long engagement. The act features a brand new ensemble with Natt Hanley and Welding and Malloy among the talents. An up to date orchestra under Leo Martin will accompany the varied program including ten Melody Boys and Vernie the baritone. Box office at T. Eggleston's newsagency.
A thief entered the Willow Gap residence of Mr. Geo Hayes Saturday afternoon while the family was away and stole several items. Police urge homeowners to secure properties and not leave cars unattended in streets with valuables.
A man sleeping on the Arcadia Stores premises woke to scratching at the main door around 4 am. He saw a woman outside and notified police. The intruder had tried to open a double lock, and the disturbance was traced to a scratching noise that exposed the attempted break-in. The resident provided a description to aid capture.
In a Stableford par competition at Guyra Golf Club on Saturday H F Griffin and H B Darke tied at 33 points, Griffin taking the win on ton. Other results show W Briggs 32 and J K Donald MC 27. Sunday stroke competition won by A Miller net 57. A committee meeting set to open the 1936 season with a club match on Wednesday 26. Mrs Madgwick elected handicapper after Mrs Mitchell resignation.
Acknowledgment from the Guyra Red Cross Branch records thanks Miss E M Jackson for a donation of 16 shillings through Mrs J Thom as treasurer. Funds support local Red Cross activities in Guyra and surrounding district.
A meeting of the Guyra branch is scheduled for Saturday 22 February at the Council Chamber. Attendance is requested for the discussion of social arrangements. E Mott is the honorary secretary.
Mr Edward P Burke and family thank Mrs C Clancy of Ollera street for attention and many friends for sympathy and floral tributes in their recent bereavement.
Informant states jeweller and optometrist Mr John Flynn of Glen Innes will visit Guyra soon with a wide range of jewellery and associated items and will continue visits at regular intervals, details to appear in the next issue. Forecast notes cloudy sultry conditions across NSW with rain storms, heavy falls and hail possible, north eastern to south east winds freshening.
