T Devenish advertises a large stock of Xmas cards priced from 1d to half a sovereign plus stationery pipes cigars cigarettes and tobacco products. The shop offers a first class hairdresser billiard table agency for local papers and steady daily service with attentive civility and cleanliness.
The Gayra common will elect trustees at Tattersall's Hotel on the 20th inst. The aim is to improve the picturesque common, with about 400 head of stock currently grazing. Trustees will be required to destroy blackberry briars and control rabbits. a tax on stock on the common may be levied. A common ranger will be appointed in January to enforce paid stock access to the lagoon.
The Railway Conference meeting in the School of Arts will decide a definite route from the table-land to the coast. Tenterfield Glen Innes Govra and Armidale push their claims. The Argus backs a line from Guyra via Don Dorrigo to Glenreagh then Grafton. Delegates are united to pick the best feasible path. The Arque supports whichever route the conference deems practicable.
The Forest Flora of New South Wales Part 27 by J. H. Maiden is acknowledged for its information. The Railway Department announces a Special Cheap Excursion Train to Sydney and Newcastle on Friday December 15. Fares are 11d per mile first class and 1d per mile second class, with tickets valid for one calendar month.

The Railway Secretary replies that a level crossing north of Guayra cannot be approved as one already exists within sixty yards of the requested site and the commissioners will not comply with the request.
The Guvra Progress Committee held a lively meeting at Starrs Hotel on Monday night with members Morais Solechsie Legga Purser Rae Cummins McGovern Mullican and Roche present. Delegates Rae and Stevenson were chosen for the railway conference to begin at 11 am and arrangements were made to host delegates at dinner. A public meeting at Tattersalls Hotel was planned for Wednesday night to elect trustees and enroll commoners with further talks on road and railway improvements and a request to remove a dangerous tree near the police barracks.
Fresh tenders invited for grazing right at the Guyra Show and Recreation Ground with responses due by 6 pm on Tuesday December 12. Trustees of Hon Bec are soliciting bids through the undersigned.
A public meeting will be held on December 20 at 8 o clock for the voters of Goyra Common. Residents are urged to attend and enroll for the election process and meet the council.
