Bright warm weather followed a Tuesday hoary gale with heavy rains. The region shows verdant growth while development plans advance. local trades and stores report activity. Weather affected events, a Brisbane trip was postponed due to bad weather, and taxation debates continue. A sale, postal matters, and district improvements are noted alongside forthcoming picnics and community gatherings.
Rain fell heavy on Saturday causing train delays and overcast conditions. Willow’s totals show 178 points and 83 points reported in the day’s figures, with Sydney topping the four percent mark and weekly records rising to the highest on record for the year.
The monthly Farmers and Settlers meeting was held at Oddfellows Hall on the 20th week. A motion urged Parliament’s attention and railway changes affecting passenger and mail travel. Expressions of thanks went to Moura McDonald and Thomas for their efforts. A memorial for Mr. Povey was approved and a note urged Parliament to back experimental farm work at Ouyra. Reports state Italian ships inflicted heavy damage along the Arabian coast, with many deaths and fort defenses struck. Turkish commander withdrew inland but residents refused to raise flags as the fortified port was bombarded and warships sustained damage amid heat of battle.
Sporting notes recount the Glen Inna Pony Races nominations with many entries across multiple stables and horses, cautioning about the opening meeting and upcoming fixtures. Names like Burglar Snip Soni Corina Parts Diamants and others appear, with additional reference to Warwick Warm races and Brisbane Cup results.
