Mrs Annie Hurges a pioneer of Armidale died at her Minerkham Street home after a long life in the New England district. Her husband Frederick Burgess preceded her 24 years. She leaves three daughters Mrs Carter Armidale, Mrs Smith Thebes Hill, and Miss Mure Armidale, and a surviving brother Mr Hare. Funeral held yesterday afternoon at Armidale Cemetery with Rev Ty Allem conducting.
Moray death of Armidale man Mr Arn Piddington youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs Piddington of Arn Jaeceased. A keen cricketer and member of the New England Voghe Association he led the Barile Kavvale orchestra and Armidale Concert Orchestra. Survived by widow and sister. funeral held Tuesday in the Methodist section of Armidale cemetery.
Mr. Ertee Starr, a patient at Clarefen private hospital, is making satisfactory progress. Rey White, son of Mr. Frank White of Mountat, is being treated for a broken arm from a fall from a horse. Mr. Ho B Darke, Shire engineer, learned his father in Leura suffered a paralytic stroke and was in critical condition. his father died yesterday. Mrs. A A Brown and Miss KK Brown, with Miss Jean Chisholm, returned from a motor trip to Queensland via Nanango and Toowoomba. Miss Nancy Me Mister, Metro Pedital College, Lyn, topped the state in the Phonographic Society of Australia bookkeeping exam with 91 percent, also excelling in shorthand and typewriting.
Key ex-students and friends attended the Ursuline Convent event Monday at Arcadia Hall. About 150 dancers enjoyed the evening with Mere Hutton’s orchestra providing music and Mr Bredie officiating. The committee and secretaries Miss Flot Miss Kelleant Miss Moore are praised for a successful function. an excellent supper was served in the lounge.
