Acceptance offer prompts transport minister resignation debate
The Geyra Argus notes the minister for transport offered to resign if found blameworthy for the so called tragedy of transport. It argues that policy is by ministers while implementation rests with permanent officers and cites rising costs, reduced use of rail, and calls for better timetables and lower fares. The paper views abolition of the Transport and Highways Commission as bold and questions Winsor’s suitability as rail chief.
