Madhatters Ball in Guyra Draws Young People and Visitors
The Madhatters Ball at Oddfellows Hall Guyra organized by the Guyra Legion of Ex-Servicemen and Women featured a lively parade of mad hatters. Len Kirk won the maddest hat prize with a windmill topped lid. Rae Caddy and Miewe Archibald received other prizes. The evening included a spot waltz won by Bernard Newberry and Miss Freda Sullivan, with supper served by Legion members and helpers. Tet Fong's orchestra provided music as officials and MCs ensured smooth proceedings.

Shire Council considers 10000 loan for roads and water
A conference between council representatives and Bank of NSW discussed a 10000 loan repayable over ten years with 20 half yearly £500 instalments. A loan working account to offset interest was proposed subject to the Governor's approval. The meeting also noted finances across several funds and discussed Tingha water plans and electricity assets with local bodies.

The Guyra Tennis Club, reformed after wartime lapse, begins work using a light grader funded by the council. Trustees of the recreation ground back court reconstruction. Subscriptions set at men 9 shillings, women one pound, juniors 15 shillings. last year's financial members receive part refund due to out of order courts. Non members may use courts for two shillings daily with supervision. school children may use Fridays 1:30 to 3:20 pm free. Credit balance stands at £19 0s 9d. Office-bearers elected include Col. H. F. White president, R. Jansson vice-president, N. Jackson, C. Lyte, W. Briggs, secretary, Parsons, treasurer J Parsons.
