The term billycan stems from tins labeled Boeuf Bouilli used by goldfield miners. After use the tins became water vessels with wire handles, evolving into billycans. Swagmen rely on them. tales recall blackened billycans found with thirsty swagmen who died in the outback, some bearing messages or wills. Sets of nested billycans are common among bush workers.
Church notices for Christmas Day and following days list Holy Trinity services from 6 a.m. to 1st Communion, plus Gr enfell Grenfell Greenethorpe Cowra Road Holp Communion details and Sunday schedules. Seventh Day Adventist and Salvation Army services are noted with meeting times for Saturday and weekday events.
