Mendham Elected Grenfell Mayor and Sinclair Deputy
At a special Grenfell Municipal Council meeting last Thursday Ald. C. Mendham was elected Mayor and Ald. T. Sinclair Deputy Mayor. The Mayoral stipend stays at £78 though some aldermen urged £100. Four candidates were considered, with Mendham ultimately chosen after support from Ald. McCarthy. The meeting also formed committees and discussed Library Conference funding.

Dream highway to Cowra Young runs stalled by minister
In a Cowra Council letter to last week’s meeting the Minister for Transport said the proposed Cowra to Young route via Cootamundra Junee Wagga and Albury cannot be reclassified as a highway at this time. The council received the letter and took no action.

Griff th Sheep Airlift to Israel Joins Big World Trade
Twelve hundred Corriedale sheep from Griffith Australia will be airlifted to Israel next March. Dr Goldberg of Griffith organized the plan and will join the transport with several Australians aboard chartered Skymasters. The export license has been granted and Israel seeks to boost meat supply and wool marketing.
