Fatal Caried Mine Accident Kills Robert Graham
Robert Graham dies in a Cariboo Mine accident at Camp McKinney last Sunday. An inquest found a steel ore car unfastened to the cage caused a 200 foot fall ending in instant death. The jury ruled accidental death and the body was returned to Colville, Washington for burial. He was 23 years old and a nephew of Jas Monaghan, former Cariboo Mining Co. president.

James Cooper Manufacturing of Montreal has won the grand prize for mining machinery at the Paris Exposition. The award includes a gold medal after open competition against global entrants. Their air compressor and other plant are used at leading mines in the Boundary district.

Boundary Mining News From Mother Lode Mine Progress Report
After repairs the Mother Lode mine resumes work at the 200 and 300 foot levels. Crosscuts and drifts show ore in multiple faces with ongoing ventilation raises planned. Geologists Brock and McEvoy research the area while Dr Dawson plans next year’s survey of Boundary district. The distinguished visitor toured Greenwood camp and Knob Hill mine before continuing westward.

Cariboo Mine Receives New Power Plant Equipment
The Jenckes Machine Company shipped a 60 horsepower horizontal return tubular boiler via the Columbia & Western railway to Midway for the Cariboo McKinney Mining and Milling mine at Camp McKinney. Existing machinery includes two horizontal return tubular boilers a 60 hp link motion hoist a 10 drill Rand compressor and two S stamp batteries plus equipment from Risdon Iron Works and Jenckes.

Dr G M Dawson deputy head of the Canadian Geological Survey visited the Boundary district to discuss the West Kootenay geological map. The map spans about 80 miles from Kootenay Lake east shore to Christina Lake west, with four miles to the inch scale and contouring. It includes a topographic map marking economic minerals and glacial features, plus an extensive explanatory report on geography geology glaciation minerals and petrography.

At the Spokane Industrial Exposition opening October 2, chief mineral prizes will honor design and workmanship as well as value. The top prize is a $125 gold scroll medal for the best district exhibit, followed by a $50 silver medal and a $25 bronze medal. Three additional district awards and two for individuals are offered.

Granby smelter caravan moves toward Republic to Zala M. base
The Granby smelter team leaves Grand Forks for Republic then to Zala M in Sheridan camp and back toward Rossland by Friday or Saturday via Midway and Greenwood. Blueprints for the Mother Lode hoist foundations mailed from Sherbrooke to Mr Keffer M B. should arrive this week enabling immediate foundation work.
