British Columbia Copper plans reorganization under $5 million

Hayden Stone underwrites $1,000,000 convertible bonds as BC Copper reorganizes into a $5,000,000 company. About 1,100,000 new shares issued with 600,000 for share exchanges, 200,000 in treasury for bond conversion, and 200,000 reserved for future acquisitions. The firm, capitalized at $3,000,000, reports prior profits but years of expansion losses. New plant sites include a power site on Whipnaw Creek and a concentrator at Boundary Falls to process ore from Lone Star and Eureka holdings near Nelway and Wellington camps.

Wolfram and Miss Lina Riese Wed in Republic

Carl Wolfram of Grandorks and Miss Lina Riese of Strongs Prairie Wis were quietly married in Republic on Tuesday February 10. Wolfram, an old-time Forks laborer, previously worked in Granby machine shop and now runs his own business. They plan to live in this city and friends wish them happiness and prosperity.

City Council Moves to Equalize Official Salaries

The council debated city salaries for two officials, Mr. Anderson at 125 and Mr. Reid at 150 monthly. A measure passed to equalize salaries, require charts of the system within two months, and set future pay at 187.50 monthly until charts are filed, starting March 1. The armory site committee also reported on two potential sites and awaits headquarters reply before action. The finance committee then reported and monthly accounts were approved.

Residence Burned of Sam Roper Westend Trainmaster

The home of Sam Roper Great Northern trainmaster, near Sunbeam ranch in the Westend, burned to the ground late last Friday night. The fire started in the roof from the chimney as the family were downtown. Neighbors carried out furniture. the house was uninsured above partial coverage and the fire brigade could not save it due to the water system not reaching the area.

John Donaldson introduces a new cash register from the Toronto National Cash Register branch costing 8675. The device features four drawers, clerical rings from 16 to 209, tracks drawer openings and customer counts, records change draws, totals sales, shows account payments, and prints receipts. Donaldson says it may soon gain a phonograph attachment. A diplomat is a man who remembers a lady's birthday but forgets her age.

Union mine praised as a future great mine

Grand Forks residents tour the Union mine in Franklin and hail it as a wonder with a mountain of ore valued at 60 to 100 dollars per ton. Twelve workers and nine teams haul ore to Lynch Creek, two carloads shipped weekly to the smelter. Despite 20 dollars per ton in transport and treatment, owners report handsome profits and predict a spring stampede if shipping improves.

Kavanagh Weds Laura Brown in City Home Ceremony

John Kavanagh and Laura Brown were united in marriage at the bride’s parents’ home on Wednesday morning February 10. Rev. M. D. McKee officiated. The bride is J A Brown’s daughter and popular in the city. the groom is a rising businessman with Kavanagh & McCutcheon. They left for a short wedding tour to Spokane and nearby points and will reside near Holy Trinity church after returning.
