An upcoming sports meeting is announced for Nungarin on December 14. The article notes local events and public notices including licensing, court activity, and remarks from Northam officials.
The Northam Municipal Council met on 21 insl with Mayor A W Byfield and eight councillors present. They recorded loyalty to the Empire and sympathy for fallen servicemen, sent a condolence letter to Major J T Milner’s widow, and reviewed finances. The meeting discussed Fire Brigade radius expansion and yearly contributions by the Road Board to support nearby residents’ benefits.
Fifty Anzacs recently returning to the state will arrive in Northam Thursday for a public luncheon and afternoon evening entertainment. The Welcome Home Committee asks households to offer tea meals and billeting, with a sub-committee coordinating hospitality.
The Municipality of Northam held its annual ratepayers meeting at the Town Hall presided by Mayor A. W. Byfield. Seven ratepayers attended along with officials. The council announced a vigorous works policy, starting with Fitzgerald Street, to improve the town.
The Railway Picnic committee hosted a social and dance at the Railway Institute where ladies assisted. Music by Mrs Ryan and others filled the evening until midnight, with a dainty supper served and the National Anthem sung to close. Donations from profits went to Northam Public Hospital Local Repatriation Fund and Salvation Army.
