Norfolk four-field rotation challenged in ruling
Judge Mulligan at Fakenham, Fogland held there is no presumption a Norfolk small holder must follow the four-field system. The case involved damages claimed by Norfolk county council over a tenant who planted all land with white crops for two years. The ruling notes rotation's ancient roots and that rotation is a system of husbandry, not a local law, with appeal left open.
