Re opening of Northam Torn Mall

On Thursday the At Home event for the Northam Town Hall re opening was well attended. The Mayoress decorated interiors, guests welcomed by mayor and Mayoress, and a pleasing musical programme followed. Friday morning children’s treat drew 300 plus attendees with fancy costumes and dances. A splendid repast concluded the events.

Soldier murdered in German prisoner camp in death report

Comrade interned in Holland writes to Mrs Rodger of Glasgow detailing how Sergeant John L Rodger RFA died in Giessen after being stabbed by a German guard following a complaint about food. He died in hospital within 24 hours after the attack. Rodger had twice declined the Military Medal but accepted the Meritorious Service Medal before his return home. He was a well known figure in Glasgow business and scholastic circles.
