Farewell for Rev Nicholls as Blampey Postmaster Dies
In Kalamunda a farewell for Rev P J Nicholls and his wife marked their move to West Northam. The death of George John Blampey, Northam postmaster for four years, followed a hospital admission after a months long internal illness he was 30 and survived by a wife and child. His funeral was at Northam Anglican Cemetery with pallbearers named and wreaths from family and many others. The Northam Council discussed trotting track access and a dairy prize fund donation, with budget figures noted. A lighthearted electoral remark and local anecdotes closed the item.
