Australian Labor Party Council Meeting Highlights At Byfields Hall

Gerald Cunningham chaired the annual Australian Labor Party council meeting at Byfield's Hall. Delegates attended with apologies from Warnum Waldeck and Russell. McCallum to represent the council on the One Big Union conference. Officers elected: President Gerald Cunningham, Vice Presidents Cook and McCaughey, Trustees Coffey and Warman, Auditors Wood and Searle, Secretary Greve, Assistant Secretary Wilven. Income tax exemption sought raised from 156 to 200 pounds. Thanks expressed to Secretary Greive and Chairman Cook for services. Letters of thanks to Labor workers and ALP brooches for ladies presented.

Esperance Railway Policy Sparks Local Discontent

Northam Market Sale Cattle Sheep Pigs Totals Report

Messrs Elder Smith and Co Limited report a fortnightly sale at their yard last Tuesday. They yarded 2521 sheep 25 pigs and 7 head of cattle. Heat wave water concerns dampened demand. Prices quoted for various classes include cull ewes and wethers mixed ages and weights. The firm sold 14 sheep and 26 pigs.

Messrs Rider, Smith and Co report a periodical sale held today using part of their new yards under construction. They penned 590 sheep with fair attendance and spirited competition, achieving satisfactory clearance under the hammer. Merino ewes and other lots sold to good value.

Anglican notes announce open air service at Bernard Park

This Sunday evening at 7 39 the Rev Mason of Toodyay will preach at an open air service in Bernard Park. Earlier today the funeral of Miss Bessie Morrell began at St John's Church with the service followed by burial at the Cemetery. A social at Jevoapaltin Hall supported Chuck funds, organized by Mavis Lender Morrell and Minson and others.

Death of Miss Morrell at Grosvenor Hospital Fremantle

Elizabeth Harriet Morrell known as Bessie Morrell died at Grosvenor Hospital Fremantle on Wednesday evening. The 70 year old Northam native had been ill for some time and recently underwent an operation. Her funeral will leave Morley Cottage at 11 this morning for St John’s Church and then the Anglican portion of the Northern Cemetery.

Merino Rams Fetch Up to £130 at Broemfontein Sale

At the end of November in Broemfontein South Africa a selected merino flock sale saw rams bring as high as £130. Mr Richard Holmes refused £375 for a cam lamb.
