The Northam carnival fundraiser raises £ for Belgian relief as townspeople applaud the effort led by Mrs Lionel Throwell and Dr. Rockett. Local leaders praise the response, highlight olive oil and jam ideas, and stress the community’s resilience amid harvest hardships. The event also celebrates the Boy Scouts and local development projects, including the Mullewa railway line and broader town growth.
The Patach Theatre Fair opens with a grand ceremony led by Rev A I Marshall and Sir Harry Baryon, drawing praise for its decor, lighting, and orchestration. His Excellency Sir Barry Barron arrived by train with Major Wilkinson for Northam’s Fair visit. The governor reviewed the Light Horse, met Private McMahon the Civilian Veteran, and heard civic welcomes in the Town Hall. The Mayor and citizens extended a hearty greeting and invited him to the Show, though earlier engagements and war-related duties limited attendance.
The Governor toured Stito School with Sir Harry Barron, rewarding top pupils with Governor’s prizes.
