Golden, on the mainline of the Canadian Pacific Railway, serves as a mineral and commercial center for Eastern British Columbia. It hosts river steamboat navigation, the Gold en Swelting works, the Upper Columbia Navigation Co., and a thriving lumber industry. It acts as a distribution point for rich mineral country in the Columbia and Kootenay Valleys, famed for its scenery and agricultural land.
Calgary visitor Jas Grierson and Windermere guest R A Kimpton are among names listed. Roadmaster Telfer of the C and E I is noted with CPR officials visiting after a washout. A barber opens at the Kootenay House while Claxton’s fruit store offers full produce and a deli ice cream. The Alexander Hall Lodge is being prepared for the Oddfellows.
