A yardmaster Archibald Smith was killed in Donald yard when his foot was crushed between a guard and main rail as a shunting train passed over him. Four children and a wife mourn him. an inquest blamed insufficient safety blocks. Also, Freight Conductor Elson lost parts of his left thumb west of Donald. Services for Rev. G E Smith are planned in Donald and Golden.
