What Is a Barrow
Kenneth Slessor recounts Australian troops in Britain misnaming a wheelbarrow as a barrow during trench digging. The incident sparks alarm among antiquaries after soldiers uncover an ancient burial mound, later deemed an antient memorial protected by law. The tale ends noting Australians prefer wheels on a barrow and call a spade a spade.
