Turf Wicket Plans Move To Aid Gloucester Cricketers
Gloucester District Cricket Association earned praise for initiatives to raise junior cricket standards. At Friday’s Gloucester Shire Council meeting Dr Channon noted the association’s request to have the park caretaker prepare the turf wicket for Saturday matches and Wednesday practice. Health Inspector J W Murray warned against diverting all caretaker time to turf work. The Park Committee will consult the association for possible support from its members and consider purchasing a lawnmower offered by a cricket association member. The Health Inspector urged moving tennis tournaments to summer and to days when courts are available so caretaking duties for the turf wicket and courts are managed. The recommendation was adopted.
