Gloucester Co op Dairy Board Deliberates Cartage Control
At a Gloucester Co op Dairy Company meeting, arguments over factory control vs cartage charges dominated. Speakers including Mr. Holstein, Mr. Connolly, and Mr. Redman debated pricing, tendering, and the impact on suppliers within five to six miles and beyond. The motion to hand cartage control to the factory was defeated by a large majority as members pressed for fairer terms and continued local control. The discussion also covered milk distribution, with the Milk Board contract extended only to the fifth of the month and only 2000 Fallons sent to Peters.
