Country Press report notes many NSW papers close
At the NSW Country Press Association conference in Sydney on October 27 a report shows 12 country newspapers ceased in 12 months. Four cut from twice to once weekly, one from three to twice, two from five to three, and one daily to weekly. Advertising declined amid rising costs and taxation, with only occasional profits.
