Wireless telephone link on Triona voyage to Ocean Island
The British Phosphate Commission steamer Triona used wireless telephone to talk with Ocean Island where the Commission’s manager is based. An Amalgamated Wireless operator on Triona reported constant use, daily telephonic reports to Queantyland, and clear loudspeaker speech with no earphones needed. The 140 mile Gilbert Island distance and daylight operations yielded satisfactory results and noted Sydneyside short wave reliability. Portishead’s signals are screened by geography but southward signals remain strong.

Post Office Underground Railway Replaces Cars in London
A little known 70 foot underground railway between Whitechapel and Paddington serves the post office. Four years ago electro driven cars began as experiments and now 50 new cars replace 90 old ones. Each new car doubles capacity, weighs less, and uses less current. The line moves about 29 000 bags of mail daily.
