On 6 October 1958 at Sydney wool sales eighteen Penge (18d) fetched 6 Baics of AAAR branded Jet/Kelvington from Booms. Three other fleeces sold for 17d. Broken fleece secured. Wool described as stylish soft handling, good character and bulky. Clip sold by Pitt Son & Badgery Ltd.
Across the states, fat cattle values show little expected decline soon while rising mutton and lamb supplies plus warming weather may curb beef demand. An exporter in the South sees prices easing toward mid October, yet a notable fat cattle shortage persists widely.
The North Coast Butter Factories Association in Lismore fixed September prices at 10d a lb for commercial butter, 14d below August and down from September 1937. European crisis and higher war risks kept prices lower. Export price 11s 58 1d, Australian price 15s 89 54d, quotas split 50 50. Pays since September 1937 and prior 12 months listed. Foley Bros to pay suppliers an extra 3/8d per lb. cottage costs covered by suppliers.
A Church Society of Australia preview showcased three religious sound films with hymn words on screen. The films, including Tolstoy adaptations Where Love in God and What Men Live By and The Unseen Power, aim to use cinema to teach Christian faith.
