Nabiac Move to Retain Drome Site Debated

At a Taree Chamber of Commerce meeting the Nabiac Progress Association pressed to abandon Nabiac aerodrome in favor of a new site near Candletown to serve Gloucester, Ballahdelah, Wingham, Krambach, Forster, and Taree. The chamber backed Candletown, noting Nabiac already serves the region and urging public support to avoid wasteful duplication.

Sale of New Cars Under Permit Regulations

Government permit cars found on the black market may be sold only with approval from the Department of Emergency Road Transport. Transfers require registration approval or the sale may be void. Exceptions exist for necessity such as death or relatives, with many eligible buyers on the department’s books. The NLALMLA and BLA.G advocate ending price controls on used cars as pegged prices fade.

Onus on Parents to Back Gloucester High School Move

The minister warned that a new high school must be built by January 1949 if 25 pupils enroll for a prospective fourth and fifth year. Headmaster and P C President urge bringing local students home and continuing to full high school, noting costs and accommodation of extra staff. Shire Council backs the push, offering full support to proceed.

Preventing Wear in Engine Liners and Cylinders

The chief engineer of The Nalma, Mr J Fielder, urges using an upper cylinder lubricant with approved colloidal graphite to prevent engine wear. English tests by the Institution of Automobile Engineers showed wear reductions of about 27 percent on piston rings and over 60 percent on cylinder walls when graphited lubricant was used, with benefits persisting after discontinuation for about 10 days.

Simple home remedy advises using peroxide injected into all worm holes with a syringe and repeating for several days to kill borers. After treatment holes may be sealed with colored beeswax.
