Commuters plan cattle dog trotting track improvements
The committee vows to arrange a cattle dog trotting event on opening day with a special prize included. Plans call for widening the trotting track by four feet on the hill side after the Diggers' Rodeo ends. The Shire Engineer has surveyed the site and the next committee meetings are set for late January and after the Rodeo. He cited Cumberland with 1,700,000 people and Northumberland with 220,000, noting four of every five leases were in the 1.7 million area. He warned of housing strain, economic stagnation, and defence risks, urging decentralization and visible country works despite delays.

Wauchope Logging Minister defends timber rights
Minister for Conservation Mr. Weir cited assurances when government began logging in Wauchope that country sawmills' rights would not be jeopardised. He blamed cowl shortages and truck priority for the Wheat harvest for sawn timber backlog, noting Railways supplied about 400 trucks weekly in August but 500 are needed weekly on the North Coast to ease the accumulation.
