Primary Producers Union Inter Council Meets at Raymond Terrace
The quarterly meeting of the district council was held Tuesday 20 November at Raymond Terrace with a representative gathering. President T H Pearse chaired. Delegates from Bowthorne, Dungog, Alison, Gloucester, Lower Hunter, Lostock, Wallarah and Brookfield attended, with A W Fraser as secretary. They mourned W H Clifford of Norco Ltd, a leading dairy co operator. Discussions covered the Marketing Act, abattoirs at Waratah, unity of action in marketing, Hawkesbury college bursary, factory surroundings, and funding of union subscriptions. Proposals included Australian dairy unity, grading of potatoes, tax exemptions for co operatives, and dairy inspections. A bridge project at Hexham and a broadened membership rule were also discussed. (Continued on Book Page.)
