RATT LERS PLEAD GUILTY FOR TRAIN TRUCK RIDE

At the local police court before Medars Kennedy and Newton and others nine men admitted riding in a railway truck between Telarah and Gloucester in contravention of railway rules. Each man fined 30 shillings or three days. Sergeant Bolton said the offenders were under tarpaulins in two goods trucks with no interference. The court heard calls for railway department representation and noted such offences are common with little deterrent effect. The two youngest, aged 18, preferred Queensland over admonition and discharge. They lacked blankets or water and received advice from Mr. Kennerly before being removed.
