Bomb case at Newcastle police court heard on Thursday

Five witnesses testified in the West Wallsend bombing conspiracy case. Detectives described a gelignite device in a tin near Lowe's home and warned of potential mass damage if it exploded. The four defendants Albert Augustus Smith Bernard Joseph Brown Samuel Brown and Thomas Cecil Brown face charges of conspiring to murder Lowe and others. testimonies covered the bomb’s construction placement and possible amateur expertise while cross examinations probed statements and evidence handling.

Fruit fly lure and spray formulaes under law

The Plant Diseases Act requires fruit fly lures to be vanilla ammonia and water in exact proportions and punishes noncompliance with up to £50. Minister Hugh Main notes trials show the official mix is far more effective than many manufactured lures. Sprays to control fruit fly must mix fruit syrup water molasses or treacle and arsenate of lead powder with one gallon syrup to three of other liquid.
