Unemployed Delegation Seeks Broad Labor Reforms at Cessnock
A deputation representing unemployed workers urged Minister J. M. Baddeley to launch a full inquiry into the Rothbury shooting and to take action against Mr. Weaver. They demanded a 44 hour workweek, union wage and conditions, full maintenance while unemployed, anti-eviction measures, abolition of child labor, school leaving at 16, reform of Labour Bureau controls, government seizure of mines, repeal of the Consorting and Vagrancy laws, and release for Roy Shayler. Baddeley said the requests fall outside his department, but he will present them to Cabinet.

Teachers Federation Protests At Tenterfield Meeting
At a Saturday meeting of the Tenterfield branch of the Teachers Federation presided by Mr P G Hamilton Foster, a unanimous resolution protested Col Bruxner’s statements. The group denied teachers aiding rowdy elements or pupil political propaganda and urged naming any guilty teachers. New York is often called the empire state by Americans.
