Gloucester Pastures Protection Board Report Summary

A report from Stock Inspector A. E. Moore to the Gloucester Pastures Protection Board covers March and April conditions in multiple districts including Moorlands Nabiac Wingham and Gloucester River. It notes drought and frost reducing pastures, lively stock movements with high store cattle demand, fats in good supply but prices easing for rough and dairy fats, and general cattle health with minor diseases and quarantine measures. It also warns of potential pleura if Queensland cattle enter the district and outlines disease descriptions and treatment cautions for nasal granulosa footrot and contagious abortion. Moore also notes he will retire and take recreation leave.

The writer seeks approval to be paid in three unequally timed instalments. Long service leave for 32 years’ service is noted but likely blocked while Tam is on duty due to officer shortages. Stock returns show many owners outstanding and request immediate submission to have everything in order before August 1944.
